CURRICULUM AND COURSE OF STUDY

a) The school prepares the students forthe Indian School Certificate Examination (ICSE) for Std. 10th and the Indian School Certificate (ISC) for Std. 12th under the Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE), New Delhi. This is a private national-level board of education in India with English as the recommended medium of instruction.

Salient features

  • The curriculum is designed in such a way that it balances academics and extra-curricular activities that encourage students to pursue the skill of their choice apart from academics.
  • English is considered as the recommended language of instruction with no exception. Literature is given equal importance with other subjects that encourage language development of the students. These days, literature is gaining back its popularity and being multilingual will certainly prove beneficial for the child in future.
  • The board also includes art education as a part of its curriculum which improves visual-spatial skills in the kids.
  • ICSE also implements theme-based learning, a technique that identifies the skills of the child and encourages him to her to learn through various projects and experiences.

  • The Indian School Certificate following the ISC syllabus has international value. The ISC Board is the most systematic and disciplined in the country, even in the case of conducting exams and declaring the results. The difficulty level of the subjects is equally distributed so that students won’t feel pressurized as they move to higher classes. The syllabus has been reformed to match the level of CBSE and other competitive exams like JEE, NEET.

ICSE

  • The curriculum for the ICSE is broadly divided into three groups. Each student entering Class 9 opts for seven subjects from these three groups for a two year period of study till class 10. At the end of class 10, the student has to appear for an examination in the subjects he or she has studied.
  • Group I subjects are compulsory, and students have to choose TWO from Group II and ONE from Group III.

ISC

  • Three streams of study are offered. In each of these streams English is a compulsory subject; students need to choose four additional subjects. The school varies the subjects it offers as well as which subject combinations it can allot based on a feasibility study and this varies from year to year.
  • For ISC Class 11 and 12 students, English is a compulsory subject for all the three preferred streams: Science, Commerce and Arts. The students need to choose their subjects from the elective subjects of all the streams available.

b) Special course of studyNIOS:(National Institute of Open Schooling )

Secondary Course

  • This Course is equivalent to the 10th standard. A student can choose subjects from the Scheme of Studies available. However, a student will be required to successfully complete a minimum of five subjects with at least one language or at most two languages, which is compulsory for certification.

Senior Secondary Course

  • This Course is designed for those who have passed the 10th standard or equivalent examination from a recognised Board and would like to continue their education towards a Senior Secondary Certification, equivalent to XII standard.
  • A student can choose subjects from the Scheme of Studies that are available. However, the student will be required to successfully complete a minimum of five subjects with at least one language or at most two languages, which is compulsory for Certification.

Scheme of Studies

For obtaining a Pass Certificate, a learner is required to pass in a minimum of five subjects including one or maximum of two languages from Group ‘A’ and other three or four subjects from Group ‘B’. However, a learner is free to take upto two additional subjects and thus can choose maximum of seven subjects.

  • The Learners are however advised to select the subjects as per their future plan of study and work.

NCC(National Cadet Corps) – Curriculum

  • The training curriculum of the NCC is primarily focused on character building, inculcating leadership qualities and skill enhancement through structured academic syllabi, practical training and opportunity for exposure/interaction beyond a cadets’ immediate environment.
  • Discipline, basic arms training, team ethics, following orders, various kinds of physical activities, sports, tours to remote areas, etc. are some of the things you experience and learn in NCC.. NCC today has around 13 lakh cadets in the country; it had started with just 20,000 in 1948.
  • NCC Syllabus – The syllabus includes common subjects for all three wings and specialized subjects with respect to Army, Air Force and Navy. The common subjects comprise of appApplication for Enrolment.
  • A student desirous of being enrolled in the Senior Division shall apply to the Officer Commanding of the nearest NCC Unit; while a student desirous of being enrolled in the Junior Division should apply to the Headmaster/Principal of the school in the prescribed form.roximately 70% and specialized service is 30% of the curriculum.
